Why only knee airbag activated in crash? 2016 Focus.

I was in a collision last week traveling between 40-45 mph when I hit a truck that pulled out in front of me. My car is/was a 2016 Focus Titanium hatchback. I’m curious as to why only my knee airbag deployed and not the steering wheel one? Is it because the passenger side took most of the impact?

IT would require crash data - but it would indicate the system "figured out" the impact as it occurred so the frontal and lack of passenger - told it to launch the knee to keep you in the seat - if things got worse the seat belt tensioner and that steering wheel airbag should have ignited - so it saves money in recovery costs in repair and replacement by not having it go off.

So, if the vehicles is totaled, the salvage costs to recovery are also less you (insurance) have more to gain from the sell off of working parts..
