Headlight suggestions

My car has the stock headlights and I have issues at night seeing the road. I can see better when my brights are on but you can't go driving around with your brights on blinding people. Anyone have suggestions on what to replace it with?

I can empathize, the light on the first gen Focus were just awful. I ended up going with an HID conversion kit but its mostly frown upon if you're not running the proper projectors.
