- What I Drive
- 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee CRD
So, Mom (89) drove her 2012 Focus over a rock in my driveway and refused to stop. This seems to have severed the left rear brake line with fluid absorbed by the rear passenger carpet. Looking up from under the vehicle the steel line appears to be routed in a channel (now distorted) that is not accessible from under the car. Anyone have experience replacing this line? I'm thinking I have to pull the drivers seat then remove the carpet. I have no idea what to expect and this may be a job for a healthier person (without shoulder issues). I've replaced brake lines before and if this were simply an under-vehicle job it would have been done within an hour. Tapping on the rear floor (through the carpet) it sounds solid, so I'm not sure if this is designed for service but the design seems to address rust issues and I assume this is why no-one has posted on brake line replacements for this vehicle. Any advice?
