America’s compact car market is one of the most crowded and competitive segments in the auto industry. The Honda Civic and Ford Focus have traditionally been strong contenders in the market, with a wide array of models offering excellent efficiency, high ratings from critics, and strong safety ratings.
Low gas prices are fueling a boom in the compact SUV market. Many of those sales are coming from buyers leaving the compact sedan market, creating a great opportunity for those seeking a good deal on a Civic or Focus.
The Civic was completely redesigned for the 2016 model year, and Honda is continuing to roll out new variants of the model, including a new hatchback that will be imported from Great Britain. The Focus soldiers on after a refresh in 2015, though its last major redesign was in 2012. Notable for 2016, however, is a major upgrade to Ford’s SYNC3 infotainment interface.
