2014 dash splits at passenger airbag perforation

My 2014 Focus has developed a split across the lower edge of the passenger airbag 'cutout' and it's starting to creep up the vertical seams, too. I've seen dozens of cars get random cracks in their dashes, but never seen an airbag 'perforation' do this. Wondering if others have experienced this, and has anyone come up with a decent bodge to minimize the look of the split--I don't want one of those carpet dash covers, since it would obstruct the airbag. Thin bead of grey silicone, maybe?
