2012 focus SEL hatchback won't open

I am having some problems with the hatchback opening on my 2012 SEL hatchback. The key fob or trunk switch do not open the hatchback. However, if I pull the fuse and place it back in the trunk opens. I checked the switch and latch and they are both in working order. Is there a diode or other component that is part of the circuit that may cause this to happen? Any suggestion on troubleshooting this one would be greatly appreciated.
