Hey guys, I'm trying to figure out this check engine light on my car. This always seems to happen when I'm within a month of having to smog my car to register it lol. It says that there is something wrong with my camshaft position sensor. So, I replaced the sensor and the code came back. The connector seems fine. I pack probed the sensor and watched the waveform with an oscilloscope and it looks alright. When I take the sensor out there is always like black sludge stuff on the back of it. When I wipe it off it comes back and every time that I clear the code it comes back as a gray code after a few miles of driving. I am having no other symptoms other than the check engine light. Anyone have any ideas?
